my father, can you understand me?

ama, maaari kang maintindihan ako?

or is the separation more than just a generation gap
more of a cultural translation
in our own home?
can you understand me?

maaari kang maintindihan ako?

understand that life for the young ones
is different from the young ones back at home?
that when you say home?
i think of a three week holiday?
even though we have a house in the philippines
that i seek comfort in our house in the countryside
that is where i love to be

na kung saan ay i love na maging

by the train track and sheep and cows.
as you enjoy the pineapple plantations, papaya and coffee beans.
I enjoy walking through the english creeks
it's not that i don't admire what grandfather gained,
but i admire what you have gained.
a english home in a country you never thought you'd see when you were younger.
